Useful Stocking Stuffers That Kids Will Love

Choosing useful stocking stuffers that kids will love and enjoy throughout the year is a tricky job. Here are some of my picks for useful stocking stuffers for kids.

One of my earliest and most enduring Christmas memories of growing up was our Christmas stockings! My sisters and I would wake up and spend ages going through our stockings together and playing with the many little treasures they held. My mother was brilliant at carefully selecting useful stocking stuffers that we would love and enjoy throughout the year.

It is something that I have tried to recreate for my own daughter. As she has gotten older I have tried to fill her stockings with useful items that she will be able to enjoy throughout the year. It’s been tricky to find items that she will love and that are useful.

Useful Stocking Stuffers

Here are a few of the most popular and useful stocking stuffers I have picked in the last few years…
(I have suggested specific items, but you can always find others the best suit your budget)

A cute detangling brush – Our favourite is the Wet Brush. I have to admit that I didn’t buy this, instead Lexi got one as a gift from a close friend. It has been one of the best things for her fine, knotty hair. – R95 from Hair Warehouse
Socks – This one may seem a bit old (that’s what dads normally get, right?!), but I assure you, a few pairs of fun socks will come in handy in winter. In our house, they usually become known as the “Christmas socks”. I love the Cotton On socks because they’re cotton and not sweaty on little feet. An added bonus is that their designs are always cute! – R29 per pair or R99 for a pack of 2 from Cotton On
Plasters with fun patterns – As every mother knows, even the slightest of ouchies needs a plaster. Plasters get expensive! So fill up stockings with a variety of plasters with fun patterns and favourite characters. – R20 from Clicks
Lip balm – Always a necessity, use Christmas as an opportunity to spoil them with a nicer than usual lip balm (or a few) that will see them through the winter. Lexi loves EOS and they are now available from Zando. Alternatively, you can find egg shape lip balms at most pharmacies. – EOS are R199 from Zando
Notebook and cute pens – I don’t know about you, but we don’t go anywhere without a small notebook and pens. When you’re in need of some quiet entertainment they’re on hand. Lexi loves her brightly coloured Staedtler fineliners. They last well and don’t dry out easily (but remember to always cap them properly). – R125 from Takealot
A fun watch – For older kids who are learning to tell the time this is a useful educational gift. For little girls who love to wear jewelry and dress up, this is particularly exciting. – Character watches R99 from Superbalist
A new wallet / purse – Superstition holds that it is bad luck to give an empty wallet / purse. So don’t forget to include a coin. This makes it all the better for kids! Reisenthel kids wallets are waterproof, tear-proof and incredibly cute. – R295 from Zando
Flip flops – Something most South African kids love and wear a lot, are flip flops. However, kids can be hard on them, and they need to be replaced often. This makes them a great stocking stuffer. – Shark flip flops R50 from Mr Price
Happy Christmas shopping!
