30 Days of Positivity

30 Days of Positivity

Spring is upon us! As the weather warms and new life ‘springs forth’ our mindset changes and we start to feel more positive. So together with Laura (Harassed Mom) and Mom’s Artelier we are sharing 30 days of positivity.

The goal of our 30 days of positivity is to shift your focus and energy to the positive. Sometimes all it takes is for you to stop, take a breath, and refocus.

The calendar is designed to be done as a family, or on your own. You can do it in your own time. You can choose which prompts you want to do, or you can do all of them. Whatever helps you (and your family) to feel more positive! We do recommend, however, that you start with the gratitude journal as this will give you time to make it a daily habit.

Keeping a gratitude journal can have tangible benefits. Our thoughts greatly impact our health. A gratitude journal is a wonderful way to change your thoughts. Reducing your stress levels and anxiety, changing your thought patterns, and gaining a new perspective will make you physically healthier. You’ll also sleep better!

Getting Started With Your 30 Days of Positivity

Most of the prompts are self-explanatory, but here are some ideas to get you started…

Start a gratitude journal…

If you have younger children I recommend a journal that has both blank and lined pages. The blank side is great for children who can’t write yet to draw a picture. The linked side can be used by older family members for writing.

Take a walk…

If you’re walking on your own try practicing walking meditation. Walk slower, coordinate your breath with your steps, be mindful of all the sensations in your body, and be present. Alternatively, if you’re walking with children encourage them to talk about what they can see, hear, and smell. Stop and look at and smell every flower. Gather little treasures from nature.

Start your day with a cold shower…

Cold showers have incredible mental and physical benefits, but they’re hard to do in the beginning. Start by washing your hands and feet in ice-cold water to let your body adjust to the cold. Or if you’re not brave enough, just plunge your head into a basin of cold water. You can also try a contrasting shower – starting with hot water and ending with cold water. Just remember to breathe! We inherently believe we are weak. Something simple like a cold shower can help you conquer a limiting belief which makes you feel more positive for the rest of the day.

Laura and I will be starting the challenge on 1 September 2020. We will be sharing the daily prompts on our social media. We would love to be part of your journey and share in the positivity. Should you wish to share your journey tag us and use the hashtag #30daysofpositivity!
